JRA’S LETSEMA gets job done in Protea Glen

RESIDENTS of Protea Glen over the weekend watched in amazement as the Johannesburg Roads Agency employees descended in the area for the entire two days to fix the roads.

From Saturday to yesterday, the teams from Dobsonville, Nancefield, Hamberg and Traffic Marking south depots accompanied by the Roadies declared war on potholes. Hard at work in their orange overalls for two days, they filled potholes, did patching, road resurfacing, putting up road signs, skoffling, road marking and cleaning up the storm-water drainage system among other activities.

The JRA’s Letsema organiser in Protea Glen, Michael Mxhosa, said the Letsema programme was war against service defects. “We are here today in
Protea Glen, to ensure that when we leave this place, the roads are left in good shape,” said Mxhosa. The Marketing and Communications department also distributed over 3000 booklets and pamphlets to the motorists on various issues including Pedestrian Safety, Flash Floods, Traffic Calming and the On the Road Newsletter.
